Grombass v1.1 SiC

Grombass SiC is the new wild brother of the Grombass. A new variant of the classic distortion/drive effect for bass that has 3 new flavors of fuzz. The most interesting is of course the new Silicon Carbide (SiC) diode that is one of the fastest diodes out there with extremely low recovery losses. Highly over spec’ed and originally intended for power converters in the several thousands of Watt class.  This device was NOT around in the 70’s when many of the legendary fuzz boxes was made. If it was, I guess it would be found in many of them. It has a wide range of sounds; from slightly boosted to synth- like distortion – always preserving the low ends!

The trick is done by NOT distorting the lowest frequencies. Just the ones above a certain freq. This keeps the punch and power. Do not suffer from the usual lack of bass response in a bass distortion.

Here is an overview over the controls:
SiC: Silicon Carbide- Fast, high gain, massive fuzz
Clean: Bypass the clipping diodes and makes the fuzz directly on the transistor. More headroom before clipping.
Gewrmanium: Actually not Germanium, but Shottky fuzz. Another fuzz clipping device not used too much in pedals. Also fast but lower voltage giving less amount of fuzz.
The switch “Muffler”/”Kvassleik” is a filter that changes the mids and tops. This filter is dependent on the controller «Gear»
“Turbo”/”Hardleik” is the gain on the input.
“Gear”/”Groms” is a tone controller that controls the gain of the lower frequencies.
“Injection”/”Lydmengd” is the output volume.

Besides these controls, there is a potmeter inside to adjust the input level – if you want to use it with an active bass.
